The Flight of Sleipnir is an American Doom Metal band based in Arvada, Colorado, founded in 2007.

story

The band was founded in winter 2007 by David Csicsely and Clayton Cushman. The name refers to Sleipnir, the horse of Odin. In 2008, followed by a first demo under the name Wisdom Calls for Sacrifice. After the release, the band's first concert followed on the winter solstice. Since then, a concert has been held annually for this event. After that, the band started working on their debut album, released in 2009 under the name Algiz + Berkanan on No Colors Records. Another album followed in 2010 under the name Lore. Then Eyes Like Snow released the albums Essence of Nine (2011) and Saga. Then there was a change to Napalm Records, about which 2014 V. appeared.

Nadine Fiebig wrote in Blast! The Nuclear Blast Magazine on V., that there are 'progressive arrangements, rustic Doom riffing and ethereal, blackened melodies'. Melanie Aschenbrenner from the Metal Hammer stated in her review of Saga that the band was very much geared towards Agalloch, especially at the beginning. Over time, however, the band 'gradually became quieter, more filigree and more acoustic, but also quite a bit more dismissive'. The music is now not pure Doom Metal, but enriched by Stoner Rock, Folk Metal and Progressive Metal.
